PC Image Editor offers you four interesting and simple tools to edit and enhance your photographs and other image files for free. By using this app, you will be able to adjust common exposure mistakes, add filters and effects to your shots, as well as rotate and resize them in a simple, straightforward, and rewarding way.

The program supports all the most common and widely used image formats, both in the import and the export side. Alternatively, you can also import your pictures directly from a scanner connected to your computer. This flexibility on the format side will let you convert your BMP, TIFF, JPG, PCX, PNG, TGA, WMF, or GIF images between formats just by using its standard “save as” option. Regrettably, you can only work with one image at a time. This lack of batch processing capabilities limits some of its powerful editing features, such as its resizing or rotation functions.

The Adjustments section not only allows you to define your preferred levels of brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, gamma, or lightness, but also offers you Auto Contrast and Auto Levels features to improve and correct your images with just one click. A third “Invert” function will let you play with the image’s colour palette to produce highly creative results.

The program also offers you a set of filters that will let you modify the level of sharpness just by moving the corresponding slider to the right position. Zoom, motion, and Gaussian blurs, mosaic and noise effects, halftone and embossing filters, and even a diffuser will provide you with alternative tools to make your photos stand out. All of these effects are cumulative – you can apply any of them on top the other, thus multiplying the possible number of combinations. Whenever you move one of the sliders attached to each of these filters, you will see a small window popping up to show you a real-time preview of the resulting image. This will let you have a quick view of all the possibilities just by moving any slider from right to left or vice versa.

Another set of effects will let you rotate, flip, reproduce, skew, and even change the perspective of your images by using a similar set of sliders. Finally, resizing can be achieved by typing your own width and height values, by entering a percentage of the full image, or by using any of the predefined profiles provided. These include the most standard photo sizes, others devised specifically for Web use, and a set of profiles specific to smart phones and other portable devices.

All of these simple utilities, together with the ease of use and the good quality of the results, make PC Image Editor an excellent free tool for those who wish to enhance and beautify their best pictures in a simple and rewarding way.
